Debbie Russell Reg. MBACP(Accred) Whole Mind Therapy
Hello, I'm Debbie. I help people take control of stress and anxiety, and focus on a better future.
Do you experience an overly busy mind? Difficulty switching off and relaxing? Over-thinking or worrying? Playing out imaginary scenarios? Assuming the worst? Perhaps you are finding it hard to make decisions, think rationally, or prioritise things. You may be feeling low, missing doing enjoyable things, or wondering where your motivation has gone. You might even have feelings of guilt or worthlessness, or worry that you are starting to feel this way too often...
I can help you to understand and overcome your anxiety, to build resilience to stress, and if needed, to develop your self-esteem and confidence. I will listen to you without judging, empathise (rather than sympathise) so you feel understood, and help you understand and change your patterns of thinking, feeling and acting, including (if needed) recovering from traumatic memories.
I offer one to one, face to face or online video counselling and/or life coaching in the centre of Meltham (near Huddersfield and Holmfirth) for people aged 18 or over. You'll get a private, confidential space to talk through whatever difficulty you're experiencing, and I will help you to identify and manage thoughts and emotions, so they stop preventing you from coping well with stressful events, or moving on from past difficulties. If you feel it's appropriate, we can then identify, build on and develop your strengths to help you set some goals and and begin to work towards them.
My aim is to provide a relationship that feels secure enough to enable you to safely explore what might be difficult feelings, without feeling judged or 'told what to do'.
To take the first step, just call or email, whether to arrange an initial session, or if you'd like more information about the service, to find out when I'm available, or just want an informal chat before committing to anything. At the first session we'll talk about what you might want to get out of therapy and agree what you'd like to focus on. I can give you some help to feel a little better straight away, and if you're happy to continue, we'll arrange some more sessions at convenient times for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
