About me

I specialise in providing both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Counselling.  More recently I have attended workshops in Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy to compliment my work with clients. I offer a safe non-judgemental and confidential environment for you to explore your issues and work towards positive resolutions.

Stigma and shame can prevent many people from accessing the support they need and deserve, and I offer totally confidential treatment both in brief work (typically 6-12 sessions) or in longer term/open ended therapy.

It is amazing the emotional baggage that the average person carries around with them!
As we go through life we 'collect' unhelpful beliefs about ourselves, others and the world. These act as a block to our natural desire for happiness and peace, and we become defensive, closed, depressed and anxious. Sometimes we may turn to substances in an attempt to gain relief from painful feelings, but these compound our problems and keep us stuck.

Therapy offers the opportunity to explore and learn from the past, and can help you move forward and embrace a much more positive and happy future

You can come with a focus and goal in mind for the treatment. Alternatively, you may prefer to explore feelings, behaviours, relationships, communication issues in longer term work. I work flexibly so that the therapy fits with your needs.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
