About me

If you are feeling that you need to make a change and need a confidential space to explore this, this is my area of specialism. If something in your life has changed in a way you weren’t expecting/ready for (a bereavement, redundancy, end of a relationship) and you need somewhere safe to work out how you feel about it and what this means for your life, I can help you with this. Sometimes we are aware a change needs to happen from within. A new self-understanding, exploring our identity, making sense of past experiences, working out how we want our future to be. We can examine all of these things together in counselling.

I have a wealth of experience of counselling people going through life transitions from moving out of home for the first time or embarking on a new career to losing a significant relationship which leads to the need to find a new way of living. These changes can be hard and I can provide safe confidential support to explore.

I meet and see each of my clients as unique and individual. My aim is to learn who you are, how you make sense of the world and what has led you to seek counselling. It is rare we get the chance to share our story with someone who is completely focused on us and our personal goals. This is where self-understanding can be achieved and healing can happen.

Training, qualifications & experience

Alongside my private counselling work, I also work at a local university providing counselling to students.

I have experience of counselling in an employment setting and working in an NHS secondary mental health team and community based mental health charity.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling which I completed in 2009. Since qualification, I have completed further training in NLP, DBT, Solution Focussed Therapy, Online Counselling and various other specific courses.

During my training, and beyond, I had placements in a GP surgery, Primary School, a Youth Offending team, a Domestic Violence support service, a bereavement service and sixth form college.

I am a Senior Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Member organisations

school Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
