About me

I am a psychotherapist and counsellor registered with the BACP.  I work with adults, young adults, couples and families on a wide range of issues which include, but are not exclusive to, depression, anxiety, fear, low self-esteem, procrastination, confidence, addictions, OCD, loneliness, anger management, relationship issues, self-harm, gambling, emotional, sexual and physical abuse and PTSD.  I offer face-to-face consultations in Gower Street WC1, Holborn, Highgate and Islington.    I also offer online consultations.

I offer a safe, supportive, non-judgemental and professional environment in which to explore your world.  Therapy offers you the possibility of achieving a greater understanding of yourself and your emotional distress which can lead to a positive change, a new perspective and realising your full potential.

Special Interests

Students    I have a special interest in the issues affecting those studying in Further and Higher Education.  It can be a very difficult time, a period of great change with many important decisions to be made and this can often seem overwhelming.    I work with students of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and faiths on issues which include anxiety, perfectionism, expectation, self-worth, procrastination, adjustment to life away from home, family issues, eating disorders, self-harm, psychotic episodes and suicidal ideation.

Performing Arts    I work with actors, writers, dancers, singers, directors, musicians, technicians and production staff on a range of issues which include self-confidence, stage fright, procrastination, self-esteem, perfectionism, writer’s block, performance and audition anxieties, phobias, criticism, managing injury, issues around ageing, career change and career development.  I offer both therapy and coaching and this can be done face-to-face or online.  Of course, I would be more than happy to work with you on any issue, it certainly does not need to be work related.

In addition to private therapy I have  devised workshops for actors, drama school students and artists of every hue.  The most recent of these include "Performance Anxiety" and "Fulfilling your Potential".   If you like to be put on the mailing list for these or any other workshops, please contact me.

My Approach

My approach is integrative, mainly drawing on  Gestalt, Attachment Theory, Existential, Psychodynamic and CBT models.  However, underpinning all my work is Transactional Analysis which is a humanistic model encompassing a theory of personality development and  a model for personal growth and change.  You can read a brief outline of these models on my website

Therapy, above all, is a collaborative process in which we explore feelings and repeated patterns of behaviour and thinking to help identify the underlying causes of distress.

Consultations are available Monday, Thursday and Friday from 7.00am to 9.00pm.  One-to-one individual counselling sessions are 50 minutes in duration.  Couples therapy sessions are 60 minutes and family therapy is 90 minutes.  My consulting rooms are in Gower Street  and Highgate.  I offer both time-limited (6-12 weeks) and open-ended contracts.

Fees  (per consultation)

  • Indivudal therapy £70.00-£80.00 depending on time of day
  • Couples therapy £80.00
  • Family therapy from £80.00
  • Online:  £50.00

I do have available times set aside for for reduced fee consultations.  Please contact me for details.

Before making the first appointment you may wish to have a free 30 minute telephone consultation and this will give us the opportunity to explore the issues you wish to bring to counselling, what you hope to gain from therapy and for me to explain a little bit more about how I work, the models I use and the process of therapy.  It also allows us to mutually decide if this is the right course of action for you and if working with me would be beneficial.
