About me

I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and a registered member with British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). My work in counselling is to ensure that I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for my clients to talk through and explore their problems. I work in a non-directive way, which means that my client is at the centre of the therapy and is free to explore their thoughts and feelings, with me supporting them along the way.

My work includes one to one therapy, dealing with a broad range of issues that clients may present. Working together we can identify your sense of negative thinking and feelings,  bringing clarity to a confused and distressing way of being and allow for space to feel less overwhelmed by our problems.

Confidentiality is a critical element of working with my clients; at all times your anonymity will be respected by me. This is a key component to the work that I do in counselling and is encompassed within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions, to which I adhere to.

As a registered member with the BACP it is important that I attend regular Supervision, which is an essential part of working as a Counsellor & Psychotherapist and underpins my work to ensure that I work safely, effectively and ethically. All client work discussed in supervision will also adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Counselling professions and is subject to the Confidential agreement which is consistent with my clients.

With all my clients I can offer short or long-term psychotherapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Lewisham Counselling & Counsellor Training Associates (LC&CTA) and gained a Higher Professional Diploma level 5, Distinction in Person-Centered Counselling & Psychotherapy. Over the last 3 years I have added to this core training by attending Continued Professional Development (CPD) training such: Loss & Bereavement, Self-Harm, Working with clients on the Autism Spectrum, Rape and Sexual Support workshop, Anger Expression workshop, Substance Misuse, Adult Safeguarding & Child Safeguarding.

I also currently work in a voluntary capacity, providing counselling to clients aged 14-25. Working with such issues as Self-harm, Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal ideation and Panic disorder; in addition to this I also work with clients who are on the Autistic spectrum or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This will also include Aspergers and clients who are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). With all the clients that I see my work is to bring a sense of understanding and compassion which may provide reassurance to my clients, enabling them to have a greater sense of awareness, acceptance and empowerment.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
