About me

Hi, I’m David.

I am a fully qualified counsellor and member of the (BACP) which is an ethical code of practice set out by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. The basis of my work is Person centred, meaning I concentrate on you as an individual and your needs.

Life can be overwhelming at times and when our thoughts are conflicting or disorganised it can be difficult and sometimes seem impossible to see a clear way forward to make positive and healthy choices. I am committed to providing a non-judgemental, genuine, confidential environment where my clients can talk openly to me about their problems in a relaxed and safe environment at their own pace. I have knowledge surrounding a number of different theories which I can draw on when appropriate depending on my client’s individual needs.

I have extensive experience in working alongside the LGBT+ community and working with clients dealing with a range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Confidence
  • Depression
  • Gender Identity
  • Loss and Bereavement
  • Low self-esteem
  • OCD
  • Panic Attacks
  • Self-harm
  • Sexuality
  • Relationship issues
  • Trauma and Abuse

Every client is individually unique, each have their own unique experiences, emotionally, psychologically and physically. To make sure that counselling is the right choice for you an initial assessment will be completed which will help ensure that your therapeutic journey will be as effective and beneficial to you as possible. I offer short-term and long-term therapy depending on the client and their personal situation.

Thank you for reading my profile.

Place2be as a children's counsellor

I worked at Place2Be as a children's counsellor in a primary school setting. The children I worked with had emotional and behavioural problems which negatively impacted their growth development, mental health and well-being. My role involved me working therapeutically with children on a one-to-one basis using play therapy techniques, helping them to express themselves in a way they understand and achieve their full potential.

Darlington ARQ

I worked at Darlington ARQ as a counsellor, providing empathetic and non-judgemental support to LGBT individuals who were struggling with either themselves or with support from family members relating to their sexual orientation, preference, gender and more.
