About me

During the pandemic I will only be offering counselling sessions by telephone, or internet video (Zoom)

For the past decade I have offered clients a therapeutic approach that has helped them develop an inner compass; a resource with which to find themselves when they were lost, a means of navigating rough waters and an anchor in the storm.

It is an approach that enables the letting go of unhelpful learnings and habits such as self-criticism, guilt, fear and shame. It has helped clients to accept themselves and others. To trust, respect and value their way of being in the world. It has enabled a coming to terms with the loss of: loved ones, work, health, and meaning. For some it has provided a means of dealing with anger... a way of finding peace.

I offer confidentiality, a safe place to look at issues, deep understanding, respect, and honesty.

For those more interested in focusing on career problems/issues, I also offer Business & Executive Coaching based on a Gestalt approach.

I work from home in a room specifically furnished for the purpose of therapy. We would meet for an hour session, usually once a week, although more or less frequent appointments can be arranged.

The first session is free with no obligation to continue.

I am located close to J25 of the M6 and just a five minute walk from Sainsburys supermarket, Wigan.

Training, qualifications & experience

My way of working is Person-Centred (Experiential), informed by secular Buddhism (a way of enabling a life unconstrained by those forces that impede it from flourishing).

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Counselling and am an Accredited member of the BACP.

My coaching and business related qualifications include a Post Graduate Certificate in Business & Executive Coaching and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.... informed by over 30 years experience of working in public sector organisations, with over a decade spent at senior management level.

My ongoing supervision, personal therapy and zazen (sitting) helps me to practice professionally and authentically.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
