About me
I am a warm hearted non-judgemental genuine Psychotherapist who believes in, and is strongly committed to growth and change through personal therapy. I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor with over 25 years experience during which I have helped many people who have suffered emotional and physical distress.
I counsel individuals and couples and am experienced in both long and short term work, working with a wide variety of issues with people from widely varying backgrounds of all ages and cultures.
I provide a trustworthy, safe place for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and resolve any difficult situations/relationships, moving forwards in your life in a way most suited to you.
I work integratively aiming to provide therapy most suited to your individual needs.
My practice is based in Burnaston, Nr. Derby and Burton-on-Trent which is easily accessible from the A516, A38 & A50. My counselling rooms are on the ground floor in a confidential setting, there is ample parking available.
I offer an initial no obligation session free of charge to ensure that you would feel comfortable working with me and to ensure my experience meets your needs and to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding counselling.
ABOUT COUNSELLING
Counselling aims to provide a confidential opportunity for you to explore your thoughts and feelings in private and safety.
My role is to support and help you to achieve this without judgement or by being prescriptive.
Through careful, sensitive listening I may offer an explanation of reactions and behaviours to people and situations.
Many people have a clear understanding of their problems, others come just knowing they are unhappy and that something is wrong in their life.
Self understanding and insight leads to informed choices and to feeling calmer and in control.
My experience has taught me that with sensitive, patient and careful therapy significant healing and recovery can occur.
I see the counselling relationship between clients and myself as crucial to successful therapy.
I conform to the BACP Ethical Framework - BACP Website www.bacp.co.uk
SUPERVISION
I am a BACP Senior Accredited Clinical Supervisor and have 19 years experience of giving supervision to both qualified and trainee therapists.
EXPERIENCE AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
I have completed 8 years of in-depth training in several key disciplines of counselling and psychotherapy as well as numerous short courses.
My counselling approach is integrative drawing upon person centred, psychodynamic, psychosynthesis, logotherapy and transpersonal theory.
Integrative counselling is not linked to just one particular therapeutic approach; it draws on specific therapy types most suited to the client in their situation.
Working in this way I aim to provide therapy most suited to you.

Abuse
Men’s mental health

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
