Training, qualifications & experience

Hello, I am Dave, the lead counsellor in a successful and well thought of private counselling practice which currently enjoys a well-founded and growing reputation amongst private and NHS healthcare professionals

I am a fully qualified and registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), am on the BACP's Accredited Register and have :-

A CPCAB Diploma in Integrative Counselling
A CPCAB post graduate Diploma in CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
A post graduate Certificate in Visual Kinaesthetic Dissociation (REWIND) therapy for flashbacks/nightmares and phobias.

I have worked for a number of years as a counsellor in several busy Wirral based GP practices, which brings with it a huge variety of both general and specialist issues.
I have also been employed by the Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centres covering North West England and North Wales

I have worked at a centre looking after the interests of people with drink and drug dependency issues, and have worked extensively with suicidal people.

The 'Rewind' therapy that I use is particularly effective for all types of trauma, and is especially useful in cases of PTS where flashbacks and nightmares occur.

I feel I can now bring these skills and experiences together to offer you an exceptional service at my private practice

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
