About me
About me , a brief overview...
I have been working Therapeutically with people for 30 years and a Counsellor in private practice for 14 years. I like to work in a friendly informal and 'real 'way, and I care loads about my clients.
I work with most areas, but specialise in Relationship issues for Individuals and Couples, and in Self development, (ie Purpose, self empowerment etc ).
Relationship areas I frequently work with are :
Updating old patterns
Effective Communication strategy
Harmoniously managing boundaries, and withdrawal
Space and Intimacy on all levels
Trust, contracting,
Personal empowerment- identifying individual needs and how to meet them.
Healing past hurts.
Navigating difference.
For Couples : all of the above, but holding the space for calm constructive conversation to get to the root of any issue you need help on.
Over the years I worked with everything imaginable, (and things I couldn't have imagined !) using methods that are tailored to your own individual needs.
Practical stuff
My sessions are for an hour and ten minutes
I work from a lovely private space in Totnes.
I also work online, by zoom, or by phone.
I am available for daytime and evening sessions.
You set the pace and determine the frequency of sessions, and how many.

Individuals - £40
Couples - £50-£60 depending on income

Training, qualifications & experience
- 14 years as a qualified Counsellor
- Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling - CPCAB
- PGCE Plymouth University
- BA Hons Plymouth University
- Facilitator of mixed Talking Groups for over 20 years.
- Facilitator of Mindlfulness in Movement workshops for 20 years.
- Previously a Family worker for several years.
- I am a qualified Tai Chi and Qigong Teacher. This is useful for being able to share breathing, relaxation techniques, and energy exercises if you want.
- I have an Enhanced DBS check.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
