I am a partner at The Lightwell Practice in Skipton offering face to face and online consultations.
As well as private clients I work with Occupational Health providers, corporations and local businesses to support employees' psychological and emotional health and wellbeing.
I have experience of dealing with a broad variety of presenting complaints from anxiety, depression and self esteem issues to self harm, eating disorders, anger management and bereavement.
The first sessions will allow us to get to know one another and to start to establish a fuller understanding of what needs addressing. Some clients have a clear and specific idea of what is amiss, and what is expected from counselling and therapy. For many of us however, there is a general sense of unease, a feeling of stuckness or unhelpful repetition of feelings, thoughts and behaviours, and it can take a little time before we can really identify what the presenting problem is, and how to tackle it.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling and have completed CPD in couples work, relational psychotherapy and interpersonal neurobiology. I am a member of BACP, UKATA and ITAA.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
