About me
Welcome...
I am an experienced UKCP Counsellor and Psychotherapist working with individuals and couples in Scarborough and York.
I offer short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy.. I can provide you with a safe, confidential and non-judgemental place to explore your concerns. These can be extremely varied, as we're all unique; maybe you're feeling some anxiety or depression or feeling sad. You may have relationship issues you would like to explore.
I believe that the relationship between the client and therapist is central to the therapeutic process. So, within this relationship you can explore your thoughts, feeling and difficulties, offering you the opportunity to become aware of patterns and ways in which you may be interrupting the flow of your life. Sometimes we may explore how your past may be impacting you now in the present.
Increased awareness can help you to better understand yourself and your needs, come to terms with your situation or find different ways of being. This in turn can promote new life choices, self-confidence, self-esteem, personal growth and change. This process may take a few weeks, or may involve longer term therapy.
I also provide Brief or Time-Limited counselling and therapy for local and national organisations and I have worked in the NHS as a Staff Counsellor. I now work with NHS staff within my private practice through an EAP provider..
I worked in residential treatment centres(Drug and Alcohol) for ten years. I specialise in working with people who have, or have had Substance Dependency issues.
As well as being a fully qualified psychotherapist and counsellor I have undertaken supervision training and have completed this now for my post-graduate supervision diploma and am about to qualify as a supervisor.
