About me
Welcome.
I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist working with adults of all ages.
I offer short, goal-oriented counselling and longer term psychological therapy for a wide range of difficulties, such as stress, anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, relationship difficulties, perinatal and parenting issues, physical illness, bereavement and trauma. I also work with clients feeling somehow 'stuck', joyless, and who wish to make sense of a stage in their life marked by confusion and a lack of purpose.
Experienced in a range of therapy models I use an integrative approach, drawing on humanistic, cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness therapies to create a bespoke treatment for each of my clients. I also use knowledge drawn from a solid psychological evidence base, developed through training to doctoral level. This enables me to work in ways that have proven effective in relieving suffering and promoting emotional well-being.
Perhaps most importantly, my clients have described me as warm and genuine. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential to achieving lasting change, and I place respect, understanding and acceptance at the very heart of my clinical practice. This makes the therapeutic hour a safe space, where my clients can think, feel, or simply 'be' in new and freeing ways.
Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss your current difficulties and how I may be able to help. You can also visit my website, for further information.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from City University and a Master of Science in Child Development from UCL's Institute of Education. I am chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I have practiced in a variety of clinical settings, including a GP surgery, a university counselling service, a private oncology clinic and several specialised NHS services.
In addition to my counselling psychology practice, I work as a lecturer and research supervisor in City University's Department of Psychology.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Psychological Society
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
