About me

I am a trauma-informed, Humanistic counsellor specialising in recovery from trauma relating to sexual abuse, abuse, domestic violence, difficult relationships, childhood neglect, emotional neglect, accidents, and more.

I am an experienced counsellor working with survivors of sexual abuse. I also work for a local charity supporting their clients and I receive regular developmental training.

I can offer psycho-education around what happens to the brain and the body when we experience trauma and gently guide you through recovery, with your safety as my utmost priority.

Trauma is a situation or event(s) that overwhelms our ability to cope with the challenges we are facing.

Trauma is not defined by what happened to us (the event(s)), but by what happened in the body as a result of what happened to us (the response to the event(s)).

Trauma expert Peter Levine states, “Trauma is in the nervous system, not the event.”

There are no expectations to talk about what happened to you, although the space is available for you should you want to. I aim to be the light whilst we explore who you are today and to gently guide you through ways to soothe and regulate your nervous system to a place of integrity and self-belief.

Symptoms of trauma may include flashbacks of the event(s), difficulty sleeping/nightmares, feeling on edge, numbness, irritability, anger, self-blame, shame, and isolating oneself.

I offer a diverse range of easeful and practical tools for you to experiment with that you can apply to your life. These include grounding techniques, breath-work, embodiment practices, mindfulness, trauma-informed CBT, Flash Technique (developed by Dr. Philip Manfield as an addition to the EMDR Preparation phase), and inner child work. These tools encourage you to become an active participant in your healing, aiming to increase your confidence and personal sense of self.

Please contact me to arrange an initial free telephone consultation to make sure that I am the right person to support you at this time in your life.

Upon confirmation of our work together, I will send you an email with details of  where we will work together (face-to-face, telephone or on Zoom) and when.

You have the option to book weekly or fortnightly sessions with me. You can choose to make block bookings of three sessions for a discounted fee, or pay as you go. Block bookings will be booked in advance, offering you security that the appointments have been made, to meet a busy schedule.

I welcome your questions and look forward to hearing from you.
