About me

Therapy offers a unique opportunity to talk things through in a space that is all about you. Whatever brings you to counselling, I will help you to explore your thoughts and feelings and locate your own solutions to the problems you are facing.

Therapy can help you to:

  • Accept yourself more fully.
  • Better understand and communicate your own wants and needs.
  • Be more assertive at work.
  • Manage and express your emotions.
  • Find healthier ways to cope with stress and anxiety.
  • Improve your relationships with others.

I offer a professional, confidential, non-judgemental service. Contact me today to arrange a free, no-obligation phone consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

There are a variety of approaches to counselling: as an Integrative counsellor, I bring together elements of different therapies in my counselling toolkit. Each client is unique, and I believe the approach needs to be tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Following my qualification, I gained the experience and expertise to be recognised as a BACP Accredited Counsellor – this means that my practice has been deemed by the BACP to meet their “higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner”.

I am also a Pink Therapy Accredited Gender, Sex and Relationship Diversities Therapist, which recognises that I have met their standards in terms of specialist knowledge, experience, and reflective practice in order to provide a “truly welcoming, inclusive approach” to diverse client groups.

  • MA (Hons) Psychology
  • MSc Therapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling (ACTO Approved)
  • Accredited Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversities Therapist (Pink Therapy)

I have a background in equalities work, mental health services (including the charity Mind and the NHS), and Higher Education.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

Research evidence suggests that a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is essential to effective therapy – therefore I can offer a free half-hour telephone consultation, for you to decide whether you would like to meet with me – just email me to let me know when you’re available, and we'll take it from there!

If we agree to meet, I'll offer an initial assessment appointment - this is an opportunity to explore what is bringing you to therapy in more depth. We might then agree to work together for a few weekly sessions, or if for any reason you or I feel that you'd be better supported by another therapist, I can advise you on your options.
