About me

I am an integrative counsellor & psychotherapist, which means that I bring together different elements of specific therapies, tailored to suit the individual needs and personal circumstances of my clients. I help individuals build their confidence, self-worth and self-esteem, identify specific triggers that may be causing disruptive patterns of behaviour and manage anger in better ways when it comes up.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I am working exclusively online via Zoom, a secure end-to-end encrypted video call platform and by telephone. I will return to face-to-face work as soon as it is practicable, alongside my online practice.

Should I choose online therapy?

Numerous studies have found online counselling to be just as effective as traditional face to face therapy. I have been able to build strong relationships with the clients I see online and they have found therapy to be effective through this medium.  Online counselling also removes some of the barriers to accessing therapy.  For example, people with illness or mobility issues, those who frequently work away from home and people without the means to travel can still access counselling.

I offer short-term and longer-term open-ended therapy, with each session taking place on a weekly basis and for 50 minutes.

What next?

Contact me for a free 20-minute Consultation

Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming, which is why I offer a free and informal 20-minute telephone call as an opportunity for you to talk through any questions you might have about therapy, prior to booking an initial session with me. It also gives you a chance to get to know me and understand how I work.

After your initial enquiry, by phone or email, we will schedule a time for our initial session. This session will take place online or by telephone, whichever method feels most comfortable for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have diplomas in therapeutic counselling and clinical supervision. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have over 8 years’ experience of working therapeutically in varying roles, which have included:

  • Volunteer listener with the Samaritans
  • Providing group and 1-1 therapy for young people in mainstream secondary schools and pupil referral units
  • Providing group and 1-1 therapy for adults in prisons.
  • Management and supervision of a counselling service for a charity organisation.
  • Private therapy and supervision practice face to face and online

It is my life’s passion to support people with living happy and healthy lives and to achieve their full potential.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accessibility

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
