About me

I am a fully qualified Person Centred therapist and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have come to use several different approaches to meet the unique needs of the people I work with but, as Jung said: ‘Learn your theories as well as you can, but put them away when you touch the miracle of the living soul." [Carl G. Jung, Contributions to Analytical Psychology. (1928)

I believe that each person I work with knows better than I do where it hurts. My work is in helping them to identify that hurt and learn to understand it.

Although I list below some of my areas of experience, it may be useful to know that evidence consistently points to the 'click' between client and therapist as being more important in meeting aims than finding a therapist who has worked with a particular issue before.

  • Abuse
  • Bullying
  • Relationships
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Addiction
  • Loss/Bereavement
  • Illness
  • Work-related issues
  • Stress
  • Fertility
  • Trauma
  • Self-esteem issues

Having been in long term counselling and psychotherapy myself, I know how important it is to find a therapist you can trust and feel safe enough to work with. If you would like to find out more about me or my practice, send me an email and we can arrange a time for a free 30 minute telephone consultation.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
