About me

Are you struggling with painful traumatic memories, overwhelming feelings and reactions, unexplained body pains? Do you feel on edge, low and unmotivated, not good enough, as though you are misunderstood? Do you struggle with relationships, friendships, parenting? Find yourself spending money, eating, blanking out? I want to help you. I specialise in trauma healing and recovery from abuse. I work with clients experiencing a range of difficulties such as abuse (sexual, emotional etc), trauma, parenthood, birth trauma, difficult childhood, anxiety, self-harm etc. I am  Neurodivergent and a member of the LGBTQ community working with neurodivergent clients and LGBTQ+ clients.

I specialise in trauma healing and recovery from abuse (sexual/narcissistic/emotional/parental etc) using trauma informed approaches. We would start with stabilisation, psychoeducation and developing a sense of safety. We can then use this as a base to begin to explore what has caused you pain. We can use a whole host of approaches including creativity, inner child and parts work to explore what is difficult to express and what drives your coping strategies.

I use trauma-informed approaches tailored specifically to your needs rather than a one-size-fits-all. I can provide psychoeducation, grounding strategies, witnessing and transformation of memories, somatic work, creative activities etc. I offer weekly face to face or online video sessions.

Please reach out as you don't have to suffer alone or in silence. You deserve to be heard and understood in a safe environment. Please feel free to contact me to have an initial chat and ask any questions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am an integrative therapist with a focus on recovery from trauma. I draw on many theoretical approaches to tailor the counselling to your needs.  However, essentially counselling is about you and talking through your life experiences and trying to make meaning of them.

I can help you to build a more understanding, kind and respectful relationship with yourself.

I can also offer information about stress responses and trauma. Together we can help you understand how you developed coping strategies and develop new ones.

We can share images, poems, guided visualisation.  This can often help express that which is difficult to say.

You do not need to suffer alone and it is possible for change to happen.  Please get in touch with me.
