Individual Adult Counselling Online.
I am an integrative relational counsellor. This means I am trained in a range of counselling approaches which I can draw on to help you. I do not believe there is such a thing as a "one size fits all" in counselling. I believe counselling is a bit like baking a cake - different cake recipes call for different ingredients and equipment. It's similar with counselling - each client needs a different mix of styles and approaches.
It's also about using the counselling relationship to figure out your relationship to yourself and others. It's about having someone alongside you who will listen and look at whatever difficulties you encountert. We will try to figure them out together. I sometimes might notice things you perhaps don't see - what we call blind spots. I might gently encourage you towards those areas so we can look together.
I can work with you to learn new strategies to help you through life. Clients often say that they wish they could just "do differently" or " be normal". My response is that often clients have had to adapt and learn coping strategies that may no longer be useful but that simply telling someone to change is like asking them to bake a cake (again with the cake analogy!) without providing a recipe, ingredients or the tools.
Talking forms the basis of counselling however, I can offer creative ways of working such as drawing, guided visualisation, use of music, lyrics and poetry, nature etc etc. My motto is to bring it all to counselling!
Training, qualifications & experience
I have completed three years post graduate training in counselling and psychotherapy. I also continue to attend courses and CPD training events.
Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling Skills.
Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Mental Health First Aid (Wales)
I have worked for local charities on a voluntary and paid basis working with clients for general counselling and specialist trauma counselling.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

When I work
Clients have told me that working online has truly helped them to understand themselves and grow as a person, whilst being a really convenient way of working. Clients who have experienced both in-person and online counselling have found them to be equally as effective.
I am an integrative counsellor which means I draw on many theoretical approaches to tailor the counselling to your needs. However, essentially counselling is about you and talking through your life experiences and trying to make meaning of them.
I can help you to build a more understanding, kind and respectful relationship with yourself.
I can also offer information about stress responses and trauma. Together we can help you understand how you developed coping strategies and develop new ones.
We can share images, poems, guided visualisation. This can often help express that which is difficult to say.
You do not need to suffer alone and it is possible for change to happen. Please get in touch with me.
