About me

Welcome to my profile and thank you for getting this far.

At the very heart a counsellor listens - simply to listen. I will always listen with kindness and empathy, without judgement, no matter what you bring into the sessions, and will give you space to talk about your life and issues in a supportive environment. So if you are having any kind of issue that is affecting your mental well-being, please do get in touch.

I have 16 years of experience and will apply my knowledge of psychology and further treatments including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and EMDR (Eye-Movement-Desensitisation and Reprocessing) to agree the best treatment plan with you. This is a collaborative process where you, as the expert on yourself, and me, agree to what may suit you best. This can be changed and adjusted as we go along, and I am always open to feedback on the therapy if you feel we need to do or try something differently.

I currently specialise in treating PTSD (Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder) through EMDR therapy. However this also applies if you do not have a formal diagnosis but feel you have been left traumatised by a one off event, or a series of events in your childhood or as an adult. This may include any form of abuse or neglect, an accident or incident that has caused you to have anxiety or depression, a bereavement that you feel you are not coping with in the way expected of you, or even if you feel the trauma has led to addiction.

I rent private premises on the High Street in Antrim Town, Northern Ireland. I work face to face from here but also online or on the telephone and welcome referrals in any medium.

You can contact me through this page, or alternatively you can ring/text me on 07719252353. You can also email on allofyoucounselling@gmail.com or contact via the website www.all-of-you.co.uk.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am passionate about offering a service that is evidence based. I stay up to date with the latest research around counselling and what is most useful in recovery. I do not believe in only relying on older theoretical models of counselling, and through my study of psychology, try to stay abreast of neuropsychology research.

EMDR is now offered on the NHS  the rest of the UK and is included in NICE guidelines. It has a huge and growing research base that show how effective it can be. I follow developments in the field and have further trained in the Flash technique, nightmare resolution and the Detur procedure (addictions).

Neuroplasticity is a concept that suggests our brain can change physically and change our minds. This is quite a new concept but few now doubt its existence and relevance. There are various activities that research has now shown contribute to neuroplasticity, and I endeavour to include these within my practise. There are simple changes that we can make in our lives, that if practised regularly, have been shown can increase our happiness levels by up to 40%.

Many recent research studies also show the benefit of Mindfulness to the changing brain structure and dysfunctional habits and I attempt to introduce clients to this practise and develop positive habits of an ongoing basis.

I work with a combination of CBT, Mindfulness, EFT and EMDR techniques with young people with digital addiction. This is emerging as a worrying and widespread side affect of the digital age, and research has shown digital addiction in teenagers can not only be harder to treat than drug addictions, but significantly contributes to poor mental health.
