About me

***Currently working remotely only***

Hi, I’m Colleen. I am a warm, friendly, and down to earth counsellor based in Warrington.

I have seen first-hand, both through my work with clients and also through my own personal counselling, how life changing it can be to learn to trust yourself again and begin to accept those parts of us that we may struggle with.  When in the right environment, with someone you can trust, this is absolutely possible.  This, for me, is what counselling is all about, and what I hope we can do together.

I know that choosing the right counsellor can feel overwhelming with so many profiles to choose from, so I offer a free initial 20-minute Zoom or phone call which will give us chance to get to know one another and to see if I am able to offer what you need.

From there, our sessions will run for 1 hour and we will work at your pace, exploring as much as you feel comfortable to share in a way that feels right for you.

I offer a relaxed environment where you can truly be heard, with no judgement, so that you can get back to your own path, wherever that might be.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including bereavement, domestic abuse, low self-esteem and anxiety and depression. I am a fully qualified and insured counsellor, and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As part of my practice I am required to complete regular continuing professional development (CPD).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
