About me

I am a Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with more than 20 years experience as a clinician.  Though currently my work is on line, I have a  consulting room in Hampstead/Belsize Park NW3 London.  I was for many years a  senior staff member of the Training Management team at WPF Therapy in London Bridge,  was also a seminar leader, clinical supervisor and tutor. I also work currently as a psychotherapist at the Camden Psychotherapy Unit (CPU) a charity uniquely offering  free or low cost psychoanalytic psychotherapy for up to 2 years.

I am BPC  registered, an Honorary Fellow of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC) and until recently, a longstanding member of the Editorial Board of the British Journal of Psychotherapy. My experience includes running 8 week trainings in Mindfulness and Self Compassion for Clinicians from a wide variety of orientations. I am an experienced therapist accustomed to working with many, sometimes complex presenting problems including depression, grief, anxiety, sexuality, gender and trauma. As a university counsellor for many years I am used to working with students and academics on a wide variety of issues around family, relationships and work. My own personal interest in Mindfulness informs all my work and becomes part of the therapeutic process when appropriate. I work once and twice weekly and while most of my patients are in open-ended therapy, I also do some time-limited and short term treatment.

I have particular experience and interest in working with those in the creative and artistic professions including actors, musicians, dancers, designers and those in the media. I also work with many professionals from the city and health professionals and teachers.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training was first as a counsellor and then as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist at WPF Therapy. I have also completed training as a Clinical Supervisor at the SAP in London.

I am an experienced tutor and seminar leader - formerly a Training Manager at WPF Therapy where I ran the MA course in Psychoanalytic Studies accredited by University of Roehampton.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Psychoanalytic Council

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
