About me

Throughout life we all face many challenges. I work with individuals to assist in facilitating change and improving relationships with self and others. Contact me on 07967581453 for Individual Counselling and Supervision.

Counselling:

I work with individuals to assist in facilitating change and improving relationships with self, others, and the wider community.

I offer a safe contracted process where you can explore concerns, difficulties, and anxieties in a caring and understanding relationship. You can explore issues as deeply as you wish, in an atmosphere of respect, safety, and acceptance. The counselling process can help you to develop your own inner resources to live your life in a more satisfying and meaningful way.

I use an integrative approach to counselling that is primarily using a person centred perspective. I am a Registered Member (Registration number 051200), of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their ethical framework for good practice.

Supervision:

1-1 and Group

I offer safe and contracted supervision to individuals or small groups, where you can explore concerns and difficulties about your counselling practice in an atmosphere of respect, safety, and acceptance. I employ Hawkins and Shoet’s seven eyed model, which forms the basis of the sessions, while using an integrative approach coming from a person centred perspective.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP and follow their ethical framework for good practice.

Training, qualifications & experience

Since the year 2000 I have run my own private counselling practice, working with various presenting issues including:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety

I started my career in residential social care, working with children and young people in the 1990’s before moving into mid-management. Using the experience of both areas, I went on to teach Health and Social Care up to Level 3 and Counselling and Psychotherapy up to Master’s Level, both in Further and Higher Education. Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
