About me
I am a qualified clinical psychologist with 9 years experience supporting people with mental health difficulties in the NHS. My aim when supporting someone is to hear their story & help build an understanding of who they are & what they would like to work on. My hope is to provide a safe space for people to explore their difficulties and move towards their goals. If you would like to learn more about yourself, your experiences and why you think and feel the way you do, I would like to support you on this journey.
As a clinical psychologist I am trained in many therapeutic models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy & compassion focussed therapy, among others. This means I can tailor therapy to you as an individual and your unique needs. I can support people with a range of difficulties such as anxiety, OCD, low self esteem and trauma related difficulties.
Choosing a therapist and starting therapy can be hard. It is important to find someone you are comfortable to share your thoughts and feeling with. For this reason the consultation call and first sessions will be about building a shared understanding of your needs and developing a therapy plan together. We will do this without any judgement or pressure.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have trained in psychology and mental health for the past 13 years. I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of East Anglia, a Masters in the Foundations of Clinical Psychology from the University of Southampton and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Maynooth. Alongside my training I have worked in the NHS supporting people with mental health difficulties for the last 9 years. Over this time I have worked with children, adults, and older adults across community, inpatient and health settings.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
