Clare Spencer, MBACP & AICTP, PGDip Integrative Counselling & Coaching
Hi, my name's Clare and I’m a professionally qualified Counsellor and Coach. In fact, I’m one of only a small number of people worldwide who’ve been trained in how to combine a mixture of counselling and coaching techniques to help you not only understand what’s holding you back, but to move forward and create the life you want. The life you deserve.
I offer you the opportunity to initially spend some time exploring and understanding underlying issues and their root causes (the "counselling" part), before moving on to identify practical ways to make positive changes to your life (the "coaching" part). I work in an ethical and non-judgemental way, creating a safe, confidential space for you to fully explore your problems and find ways to create a better life for yourself.
I understand that it can sometimes feel difficult to take the first step to reach out, especially if you've never had counselling or coaching before. And, with so many different forms of help available nowadays, it can be confusing. I've tried to demystify the process in the "How I Can Help You" and "What to Expect" pages of my website, but please do ask if you have any questions at all.
Please contact me today to book a session or arrange a free, no-commitment consultation to see how I can help you to live Life on Your Terms.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching, and I'm a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Association of Integrative Coach-Therapist Professionals (AICTP).
I am an Anxiety UK Approved Therapist, providing therapeutic support to the charity’s members and partner beneficiaries. I'm subject to Anxiety UK’s regular monitoring of my professional qualifications, supervision, continual professional development, insurance and professional body membership in addition to complying with the BACP's ethical framework and professional standards.
I also work as a Counsellor for a Carers organisation, as well as supporting university students with mental health issues.
I've worked in the counselling and coaching arena for many years. Prior to setting up my own practice, I managed counselling charities. And I've provided work-based coaching within organisations across a variety of sectors. I've also worked as a Counsellor in a voluntary capacity, including helping parents to cope with the multiple challenges of parenting. I previously worked as a Diplomat in the British Foreign Office for a number of years.

Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm start time: £50 per session
Monday to Friday 5pm to 8pm start time: £60 per session
Saturday mornings 9am to 12pm start time: £75 per session
Each session lasts 50 minutes. I accept payment in cash at the end of the session or by bank transfer in advance.
I always try and help clients in as few sessions as possible, rather than having an endless series of sessions. That said, some people find it helpful to plan a set number of sessions at a time. To make this more cost-effective, I offer a discount for block booking a series of sessions. Please ask for further details if you're interested in this option.
I also have a limited number of lower cost sessions for those on a low income.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually at the same time each week.
I integrate a wide range of counselling modalities - including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focussed Therapy (SFT), Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - with a variety of coaching techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual person I work with.
I work from my consulting room in Walton-on-Thames. You can see a picture of the room on my website. It's located up a flight of stairs, so please let me know if you have mobility issues and we can discuss using an alternative room.
