Finding a counsellor can be a nerve-racking process: who is the right one for me, what will happen, will it help, how long will it take? In my work with clients, I hope to develop a relationship of trust and understanding enabling the process to be as collaborative and beneficial to the client as possible.
My strapline, "Share, Discover, Grow" demonstrates that I intend to be present throughout the process, and we can work together on whatever is causing you difficulty or concern, enabling you to grow towards being the unique person you were made to be. This doesn't mean it will be easy, but I will be journeying with you each step of the way.
I work with issues around unwanted/unhelpful behaviour, difficult emotions, unhelpful thought patterns, relationship difficulties, spiritual issues, and many other things, as relevant for each client.
As an integrative counsellor, I use elements from many different counselling models depending on your personality and ways of working, and the difficulties you are having and things you would like to address. I will not force you to do anything you do not wish to do.
My service is open to people regardless of their gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and available to young people and adults.
I use a privately hired room at a church with a large free car park and easy access to local buses, or a 10 minute bus/taxi ride or 30 minute walk from Tonbridge Train Station.
I am a committed Christian, but work with people of any or no faith without discriminating or imposing my personal beliefs. My desire is to see all people find a sense of value and purpose as well as a freedom to enjoy life and discover their potential.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a counsellor member of the Association of Christian Counsellors and an accredited member of the National Counselling Society.
I have an Advanced Diploma in Christian Counselling from CWR and attend regular CPD courses on a variety of topics and with different training organisation to further develop my understanding and build my "tool kit" for working with clients.
I worked as a volunteer for a counselling agency for just under 5 years, and have had my own private practice since June 2011.

Initially, I invite any potential clients to a shorter session, usually 40 minutes, where we can discuss how we might be able to work together on the things that are troubling you. At this session, there will be paperwork to be completed, but also plenty of time for you to ask any questions you may have, and share some of your story with me. There is no obligation to embark upon counselling following this session. We both need to feel comfortable to work together.
My standard fee is £35 for a 60 minute session. We would aim to meet weekly at the same time.
I find most clients benefit from a medium to long-term counselling commitment. This enables the difficulty to be thoroughly explored, worked through and brought to a stage where the client can then continue their journey without the regular input of a counsellor. However, short-term counselling can be very beneficial for certain issues, or to help clients start to explore issues which they may be able to come back to at a later time when other commitments allow. The counselling journey is regularly reviewed and any concerns or difficulties on both sides addressed. You are not tied in to a certain number of sessions, although I would strongly suggest a minimum of 6 sessions.
A limited number of concessionary places are held for those in financial need. Please enquire regarding availability. Those with a valid Love Local Card are eligible to receive a 10% discount on the above fees.
Please contact me to discuss how we may be able to work together.
