About me

I am an integrative counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I have more than 5 years of experience of counselling adults, in private practice and in the charity sector.

I can offer you a safe and confidential space where you can feel heard and make sense of what is happening in your life without the usual pressures and expectations. Whether you are seeking counselling because of a recent event or looking to process something from your past experience, I believe the counselling relationship can offer a powerful way of understanding yourself, your relationships and your experiences. I am patient and sensitive to your needs and will help you explore whatever it is you are facing at your own pace.

My training is in humanistic integrative counselling and I draw on different theoretical approaches to find the most helpful way forward for you. The approaches that inform my work include: Person-centred counselling, Gestalt, transactional analysis and ACT therapy. I like to encourage the use of creativity in sessions where that feels helpful and have found that using a creative approach can help you gain new insights and a different perspective. I have recently completed further training in creative arts therapies and in creative writing for therapeutic purposes.

I have experience of working with clients around a range of issues including: anxiety, depression, trauma and it’s effects, childhood abuse, sexual abuse, bereavement, relationship difficulties, parenting, low self-esteem, autism and self harm.

I have been working to support people around the challenges they face since 2014. My roles have included supporting people by phone and text on a self injury helpline, as a social prescriber and as a counsellor at Bristol Mind and more recently as a counsellor at a charity that offers counselling to survivors of sexual abuse.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
