About me

I am a warm, approachable, mature psychotherapist, who will engage fully with whatever issues you bring.  Clients come to me with many different problems:  some have suffered loss or trauma; some are struggling with relationships; some have anxiety and may be experiencing panic attacks or symptoms of OCD; some feel depressed or stuck; some are seeking more meaning in their lives.  I believe that by offering a confidential space and the rare opportunity for real attention to be paid to the individual, psychotherapy can help. Central to my work is the actual relationship I have with my clients: I offer a non-judgemental, supportive context, where any thoughts and feelings can be brought into the room and safely explored together.

I am a trained couples therapist, and welcome couples for short or longer term work. I take a relational perspective to couple therapy, and will help you each towards a deeper understanding of the other, whatever the path you wish to take.

My training is in integrative psychotherapy: to me, this is both about integrating different psychotherapeutic approaches and helping clients to integrate the different parts of themselves. For all of us, the past influences the present, and exploring this can often be instrumental in moving forward to a more fulfilling life, and a greater sense of being alive.

I am registered (under the name Dr Margaret Clare Mansfield) with AXA PPP, Aviva and Vitalityhealth private medical insurance.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered UKCP psychotherapist as well as a counselling psychologist, with a professional doctorate in counselling psychology and psychotherapy. Before training in psychotherapy I worked for many years in qualitative research, in both the social and commercial sectors, specialising in health and sensitive topics and audiences. As well as offering short and longer-term therapy for private clients I worked for many years in a GP practice in North London.

I have a doctorate (DCPsych) in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy and a clinical diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy, both from the Metanoia Institute/Middlesex University, and a BSc in Psychology from London.   University.  I am a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a member of the Metanoia Institute. I am also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (under Margaret Clare Mansfield, registration number PYL35962).

I also have a certificate in Relational Couples Therapy.
