About me

I am a warm, empathic and approachable counsellor. I am here to listen to you and help you to find a way to process and resolve whatever issues you would like to bring to our confidential sessions.

I am trained in Integrative Counselling, which means I can use different ways to help you explore your feelings; these may include looking at your past to try and make sense of it and its impact on you. We can also work in the ‘here and now,’ with present-day problems and issues you want to look at. Often a combination of both works best, since the past can be an important indicator of what is happening in your life right now.

I offer a safe, confidential and judgement-free space for you to be able to share with me what is on your mind. That way, you and I can build a good working relationship and I can support you in the best way I can.

Therapy is not just about dealing with a crisis. It can be about organising your thoughts, processing life events or putting words to experiences that you maybe haven’t talked about before.

I regularly help clients deal with issues such as fear of abandonment, relationships, attachment, small and big trauma, complex trauma and PTSD, anxiety, OCD, addiction and self-esteem.

I work with adults of all ages, face to face in my therapy space, on Zoom or on the phone. I can also offer walking-and-talking therapy on the beautiful cliffs overlooking the sea near my counselling space. We can discuss this in our consultation.

I offer short- and long-term work. Our sessions last 50 minutes and I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation first to see if you feel comfortable working with me.

My therapy with you will be client-led, which means that you are in charge of how our sessions unfold and the subjects we discuss. I will take a holistic approach, taking your mental, physical and emotional needs into consideration. I hope to build a trusting and non-judgmental relationship that helps you to develop your self-awareness, helping you to better understand the causes of your concerns, set goals and develop new behaviours.

It can be painful and uncomfortable at times to work through your concerns and worries. But exploring your feelings and letting go of some of the old behaviours and attitudes is likely to bring you relief and peace. I hope I can help you to fully see yourself for who you are and help you to accomplish your goals and desires for your life.

If you feel I may be able to help, please do send me an email and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Professional Diploma (Dip Couns) in Integrative Counselling from The Mary Ward Centre in London.

I have worked with the charity SHOUT, part of Crisis (the homelessness charity), which specialises in suicide prevention and helping people in crisis. My work with SHOUT was challenging yet rewarding, and invaluable in giving me an understanding of the distress that an individual can experience in many different traumatic situations.

Alongside private practice, I work in a counselling agency in East Sussex specialising in all aspects of therapy. I work with a diverse variety of clients from all sections of society who may be struggling with everyday life, trauma or with life-changing events.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am able to offer art therapy and have completed several courses on art therapy and sand-play therapy. This can be very helpful with clients who may find expressing themselves with just words difficult at times. It is also helpful in bringing the unconscious to the surface naturally and instinctively without delving too deeply initially.
