About me

Hello there, I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist offering a confidential psychological assessment and therapy service to individuals in the South Devon area.

I offer a professional service to individuals seeking help for a wide range of psychological difficulties. I tailor therapy to suit the individual seeking help and offer in-depth assessment and formulation of the difficulties explored. Formulations help to enable the individual's understanding of the problems and psychological interventions provided help to reduce distress and empower the individual. The types of therapy I provide include Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy; Cognitive Behavioural therapy; Solution-Focused Brief therapy; Narrative therapy; and mindfulness based approaches.

If you are wondering about starting therapy, it can be a daunting experience. It may be that you have found yourself 'stuck' at this point in your life and that you are struggling to find a way through. I hope that I may be able to help you with that journey. I offer a free telephone consultation for us to talk briefly about the help you are looking for. If we agree then we book an appointment for an assessment session. My assessment sessions are really just a way to meet each other in person and to talk in more depth about the issues you are struggling with. The assessment can be helpful in its own right and enables a brief formulation that I can share with you regarding your difficulties. We discuss during the assessment session whether a period of regular therapy sessions would be helpful and also what the goals of the work would be.

Depending on the goals we identify, therapy sessions of 50 minutes or 1 hour and 20 minutes are offered and these are typically booked on a weekly basis initially. We reach an agreement together based on your needs and this is a collaborative process. Therapy is offered for as long as it is helpful to you and usually after an agreed period of regular sessions we review how things are progressing. Some people find they only require a few sessions to help with their current difficulty and others find they need a longer time.

Please contact me by phone or by submitting an online form on this site if you would like to discuss the possibility of psychological work. Please also have a look at my website for more details about me and the work I do.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the Universities of Coventry & Warwick. I have worked in NHS services for over 10 years with a number of years working therapeutically with vulnerable adults and children prior to qualification. My work has engaged those with mental health difficulties and neurological difficulties from many walks of life, young and old. In my current role in the NHS I work for an Older Peoples' Mental Health service in the South Devon area. I am particularly interested in the impact of chronic health conditions (including brain injury) on a person's wellbeing.
