About me

Hi, my name is Claire. Thank you for looking at my page.

I am a BACP accredited counsellor offering confidential and safe therapeutic support. I understand that it can be difficult to think about reaching out for help, but we all have periods of times in our lives where we find things challenging. During these times it can be difficult to make sense of how we are feeling and difficult to talk to friends and family. I offer a warm and non-judgemental relationship to help you make sense of what you may be thinking and feeling and support in working through this.

I have been working as a counsellor for 10 years now and have worked with a wide range of people and the difficulties they have experienced.

However, I understand that the first step to accessing support can still feel a big challenge. To help you to see whether counselling or me as a counsellor would work for you I offer a half price assessment session to start with. If after that you are still feeling unsure I would be happy to help direct you to the support you might be looking for.

If you feel you would like to arrange the first session, email me or send me a text message and I will be in touch to arrange.

I am also a qualified Integrative Supervisor offering individual supervision. Whatever your level of experience, I offer a safe space for you to explore your practice. In the same way, as I work as a counsellor, if you would like to meet to see whether we could work together I offer a half price first session.

Training, qualifications & experience

My official qualifications are listed below, but I also ensure that I regularly attend different developmental courses so I can continue to grow my knowledge of any difficulties you may be facing.

  • BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling Practice
  • CPCAB Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
