Claire Tatton, Pg Dip, BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Alongside my private work, I work for the NHS, and have done so since 1997.
I started my journey as a nurse, and have a strong background in mental health nursing, qualifying as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) in 1997. I have worked within a variety of settings in mental health services for over twenty years, and feel that each setting has provided me with a wealth of experience and new knowledge.
I offer a warm welcome, alongside my expertise, and a safe space to explore difficult feelings and situations, that may have been preventing you from doing the things that matter to you. I am comfortable in working with a full range of emotional distress, and offer you the time to talk freely about the things that you find difficult. I work with adults over the age of 18, and am also happy to work with older adults (over the age of 65).
Having always been fascinated by people and the factors that influence mental health, I love my work, and I feel privileged to have met and worked with each and every single person that has shared their journey with me. I love my work. This translates into my therapy room, where each person that I work with has my full attention, interest, and compassion. When you come to your appointment, you will be met with a refreshed therapist, who is keen to work with you on the difficulties that you are having.
Some of the difficulties experienced by people that I have worked with have included:
• Low mood linked to long term health conditions
• Low mood linked to low self esteem
• Generalised anxiety and worry (GAD)
• Specific phobias
• Symptoms of post-traumatic stress
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Social anxiety
• Health anxiety
This is not an exhaustive list of difficulties, people often do not have a name for the problem that they are experiencing, and this is perfectly normal. In these situations, we can sit down and explore the symptoms that you are experiencing, the things that seem to make this worse or better, how this makes you feel and behave, and any patterns that enable the problem to continue. This will allow us to break down unhelpful cycles and adopt helpful strategies for positive change.
