About me

Hello, welcome to my profile. Hopefully, I can explain a little bit about what I offer and how I can help you.

Whether you need support with a specific issue such as grief, relationships, workplace issues, or a mental health issue such as anxiety/depression, I provide you with the non-judgmental space to reflect on what is going on for you right now and explore new perspectives and ways of coping.

What is Gestalt Counselling?

Gestalt counselling considers your whole self and explores how your experience of the past and thoughts of the future are impacting on your present, working in the ‘here and now’.

Gestalt works with the concept of the whole being more than the sum of its parts. This means I consider you as a whole person when you come to therapy, you are not solely what you bring to therapy and you are not just a product of what is happening to you right now. I appreciate that as humans we are complex and we all have layers upon layers of what makes us who we are and how uniquely we respond to life's challenges.

I can work creatively using metaphor, imagery and creative materials, when finding the words to how you feel becomes difficult. These activities can offer profound new insight, perspectives and awareness.

I will always go at your pace and we can work on whatever you feel comfortable focusing on. I know how hard it is to find a therapist you feel will help you or that you will click with, so I offer a free consultation prior to any commitment. This is a chance for us to meet and both get a feel for whether or not I can help you.

What to expect from your free consultation

I offer a free 30 minute consultation (online or telephone) for our first meeting. Here we can have a chat about what you would like to gain from therapy, what you may be seeking therapy for, and how long you would like to have therapy. To ensure we are a right fit for each other, I will ask you about any previous or existing therapy you have had and assess whether or not I am the right support for you. Having the right mental health support is so important and I put your best interests at the heart of this assessment.

How long can I have counselling for?

I offer short and long-term counselling depending on your needs. I provide weekly counselling sessions for a period of anything between 8-weeks and 12-months. You will always have the right to end sooner than you plan and/or we can extend the length depending on your needs.

The pre-determined length of counselling is helpful to the process of structuring your therapy and is something we can discuss when we first meet.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
