Claire Oakeley, MSc, MBACP (Accred)
I am an accredited counsellor specialising in working with mothers and mothers-to-be. Motherhood is a period of great change for women and emotional support at this time can help women adjust and adapt to the changes in their identity and close relationships. Seeking support to talk things through is a positive step forward.
I have over a decade of experience working one-to-one with women and provide support for a variety of issues. These include anxiety, antenatal & post-natal depression, infertility, miscarriage, stress, loss, relationship issues and family & step-family issues.
I am existential practitioner and I work integratively. This means I incorporate elements of CBT and mindfulness into my approach. I work from a non-judgemental perspective, viewing difficulties as problems in living rather than 'disorders'. Together we can look at the choices and possibilities arising from your current situation - and work towards understanding what you might like from life.
In addition to my counselling work, I am also studying for my doctorate at NSPC/Middlesex University. My research interest is anxiety.
I am based in Beckenham/Shortlands, Kent. Please see my website for further details www.the-calm-mind.com
I offer private appointments during school hours in term time only.
I regularly work with student colleagues training to be counsellors and offer a special discounted rate. Please email for further details.
"Claire has helped me enormously. The tears are under control, humour and balance have returned to my life. My husband and children are benefiting from a much happier mum and wife. Thank you so, so much. You have helped me more than I could have imagined."
"I would definitely recommend Claire to others. The sessions were good value for money and had a great balance of focus and flexibility. I feel more confident in my decisions and find it much easier to contain my feelings. Claire was extremely empathetic and put me at great ease"
“Thank you for all the help, support and encouragement you have given me. I now have the tools to live life and cope with it. I can't put into words just how much you've helped me and changed my life. You haven't just improved things for me, but for my family and friends also.”
