I'm Claire and I am passionate about people; our thoughts, feelings, worries and joys. I practice Person Centred counselling and and work to provide a non-judgemental, confidential space where you can explore issues, resolve troubles and get the most from yourself and life. Life can sometimes get us down leading to anxiety and depression or stress. Sometimes we know the reasons for this, maybe a bereavement or relationship difficulties, sometimes we can't make sense of how we feel. I work in a person centred way but take an integrative approach meaning I tailor my style and pace of counselling to your specific needs. I hope to work with you to understand your thoughts and feelings to empower you to take the right path forward for you. I am currently studying Advanced Counselling and Psychotherapy MSc and have particular interest in mindfulness. I am also a qualified supervisor.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a diploma in counselling and have been qualified for around 10 years. As well as private practice I currently work part time for the NHS counselling clients who have been sexually assaulted or abused. Previous to this I worked for a mental health charity supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse and for a democratic therapeutic community for people who attract a diagnosis of personality disorder. I have experience of working with all sorts of presenting issues from bereavement to generalised anxiety and relationship issues. I am a qualified supervisor and and currently studying Advanced Counselling and psychotherapy MSc.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
