About me

I'm Claire, and I'm ok (most of the time). How are you?

Maybe you're feeling a bit down at the moment but trust me, you don't need to stay that way. It's ok to talk. Nothing is too trivial to bring to counselling. You 'just' have to take that first step and pick up the phone or send that email.

I've been in private practice for over twelve years now, I'm fully qualified as an integrative counsellor, and I see adults from 16 upwards who are wanting change for a whole variety of reasons. I'll listen to you without judgement, and help you  find a different direction.

Maybe you feel stressed or anxious,  having thoughts that keep going round in your head. Do you sometimes question your abilities, your self-worth and do these thoughts keep you awake at night? Do you find that even if you do eventually get to sleep, they're still there in the morning?

Are you anxious about today, and how you'll get through it, the next few days or things about to happen, or things from the past? Do you sometimes take your worries out on other people by being snappy, prickly and argumentative, or maybe withdrawn?

Has something major happened in your life, such as the unexpected death of someone close to you, the loss of a partner or job, the receipt of an unwanted medical diagnosis?

Or maybe you're unable to pinpoint a specific reason for the fact that you're feeling a bit down, out of sorts, possibly depressed.  Do you feel as if you're often hiding behind a mask, maybe in order to protect your family, colleagues or yourself?

We all feel down at times, we are all flawed and we all occasionally make mistakes at times. That's part and parcel of being human, - it's not your fault.

Often things happen which are out of our control, but we do have control over how we respond, and that's where I'd like to be able to help you.

You've already taken a major step forward in terms of getting this far - well done! As I said above, to take the next step, contact me by email/text or phone. Together, we can create a safe space where I won't judge you. We can talk about how you're finding life and its challenges. I'll then work alongside you to find ways which will help you a greater sense of calm and balance, more able to live the rest of your life with renewed purpose, hope and joy.

Who I talk to, where, when and how

My counselling sessions can be held face to face (mostly in Hereford), virtually, (anywhere in the world - my insurance covers me to work globally including US), or over the phone; whatever you’re most comfortable with.

I always suggest that we have an initial phone conversation lasting 10- 20 minutes so that we can introduce ourselves to each other and you can give me some idea as to what has brought you to this point. You can find out more about me too. I don't charge for this call. We'll then discuss the best way to move forward: meeting face to face in Hereford, talking on the phone or talking virtually via Whereby/Facetime/WhatsApp/whatever.  I'm very flexible re my working hours too - day or evenings and very occasionally weekends.

Over the course of anything from just one or two sessions to more,  working  together we will seek ways of reaching a point where you have the confidence to continue on your own

I practice strictly ethically, in adherence with BACP guidelines, I'm underpinned by insurance and supervision and maintain  confidentiality at all times (apart from within certain limitations) .

Take that final step and text or call me, I really look forward to hearing from you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
