About me

Hello, my name is Claire and I provide an approachable, friendly, supportive, safe environment in which people can talk and be heard. Counselling can be useful in so many ways and I aim to provide a non-judgemental, empathic space to talk about any issues that clients struggle with, offer a chance to pause, take time to think and gain clarity on a situation, and begin to consider what the first step in moving forward might be.  I have 15 years experience supporting people on a one to one basis.

I am trained in Person Centred Counselling and believe that it is the trusting relationship between the counsellor and client that forms the foundation from which we can work. I  work in partnership with clients and offer a free initial session to help clients discover if I am the counsellor for them. I like to use a range of different therapies to support individuals to explore who they are, what is happening for them and draw on their own innate resources to move forward. When working with children and young people in particular, I like to work creatively so that they have ways other than talking, to express what might be going on for them. This entails using art, craft and games so that therapeutic work is non-threatening. I also offer this type of activity to adults who might find this way of working useful to them.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), possess a BACP Certificate of Proficiency, Full Insurance, Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate (DBS) to work with Adults and Children and ICO Certification/Data Protection Certificate.
