Claire Guthrie M.A. Psychotherapy. H.G. Dip. Psychotherapy. Accredited P.S.A
Hi, I'm Claire. I'm a psychotherapist based in Cardiff.
I practice using The Human Givens, a relatively new and very innovative approach to therapy. Human Givens puts the focus on you, assessing which of your innate needs as a person are not being met. Using a variety of therapeutic techniques and practical activities I can support you to identify your strengths and built in resources to meet your emotional needs in a way that is healthy, balanced and supports your well-being.
If you think that any area of your life isn't going as well as you'd like it to, I'm here to listen and help.
Training, qualifications & experience
Prior to working as a private practitioner, group facilitator and consultant I worked in housing and homelessness for over fifteen years.
Working closely with people experiencing issues with depression, anxiety, addiction and relationships, and with seemingly no way out of these problems, was the main driver for me to find out more about why we are all so vulnerable to poor mental health, and why it can be so difficult to make recovery and good mental health last.
In 2008 I attended my first Human Givens workshop. I was immediately taken with how accessible it was, and I still believe that this approach promotes ideas and practice that apply to every human being, regardless of their background.
I completed my Human Givens diploma in 2012, and graduated from my Psychotherapy Master of Arts in 2013. During these courses I was able to carry out brief interventions with people experiencing alcohol addiction, anxiety and relationship problems.
