About me

Coronavirus Update:

I am available to take on new clients during this difficult and unprecedented time. I can offer Online or Telephone sessions. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a session via telephone or email.

Life can be unpredictable, suddenly something happens, the loss of someone you love, losing a job, illness or a growing awareness that things are becoming difficult for you. You may be feeling overwhelmed and not sure which way to turn, there may be a feeling that nothing is really making sense for you. I can provide you with a safe, confidential space which is for you alone and is tailored to your needs and requirements. I offer my clients the choice of working either on a long term basis where we can explore issues in depth or if you prefer to take a more structured approach we can work on a short term basis for typically 12 sessions for adults over the age of 18. I currently work from two locations Kings Cross (NW1) and Liverpool Street (EC2M) both of which have excellent transport links.

I have worked with a broad range of clients who have come to me with a variety of different problems that are affecting their ability to lead a truly fulfilling life. Some of these issues are bereavement, loss, anxiety, depression, PTSD, lack of self-esteem, body image issues and particularly eating disorders, anorexia, bulimia and binge-eating and am interested in how they impact the sufferer and also family members who support them.

As I am trained in Gestalt Therapy I believe that you as the client should be seen as a whole person and have the ability to lead your life to its full potential. I also believe that the way you interact with your environment is vitally important as is our relationship and how it develops in the sessions. You may not be able to see a way forward, you may be feeling stuck and in our sessions we can look at this, it may involve looking at difficult thoughts and feelings but is through this and looking at your part in this that will allow you to make new choices going forward. I can offer you a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore this, I may also suggest bringing some creativity into sessions as I believe this can offer important and sometimes unexpected insights into yourself.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor and am a registered member of the BACP

(BACP Register Number 374112).

In addition to my private practice I work as a Student Counsellor at a London University. I have also worked at a Hospice and at a counselling service in Wandsworth. Additionally I am a volunteer research and policy advisor for BEAT eating disorders charity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
