About me

I am an experienced, qualified, registered and insured counsellor for online (including email) telephone and face to face in person counselling sessions. I offer individual or couples counselling. I work empathically and without judgments to create a safe therapeutic environment. I work with a wide area of experiences/difficulties including, but not limited too, trauma, suicide and suicidal ideation, anxiety, depression, self harm, relationship problems and recovery from domestic violence/abuse. My therapeutic approach encompasses appropriate psycho education if helpful, to promote the space for understanding your experiences on a psychological level. Whilst I do work shorter term with clients, I lean towards longer term  sessions in client work  to promote the space for deeper unconscious work to be tended to. This allows the space to strive towards alleviating present day struggles on a longer term basis.

It can be a nerve wracking experience taking that first step into the counselling room and I strive to promote a calm, non judgmental, safe and peaceful environment for us to confidentially explore areas you may be struggling with.

I offer the initial telephone consultation (up to 20 minutes) at no charge which gives you the opportunity to connect with me, ask any questions you may have, find out more about the counselling process and gives us the opportunity to see if I am the right counsellor for you.

I am trained in five theoretical  counselling approaches which gives me the opportunity and skills to tailor your counselling sessions to your individual needs. This promotes space for you getting what you need out of your sessions.

Getting Started....

  • Sleaford Office - My office is located on Westgate, Sleaford. Free parking is available opposite the building for one hour. There are many alternative car parks close to the practice for a small charge. My counselling room is private and comfortable, offering you a calm and secure place to proceed with counselling. If you would like to book your initial free call please call or email me (please check your junk folder for responses) and we can arrange a mutually agreeable time. After you've spoken with me, if you feel you would like to proceed with counselling we can arrange your next appointment.

Online Counselling

Alongside in person counselling sessions I am also trained as an online counsellor (Certified Cyber Therapist) with 7 years experience of online work. I use a number of online secure platforms such as VSee or Zoom for online video sessions. Online counselling may suit people who are unable or uncomfortable to attend face to face sessions, due to reasons such as location, disability, time restrictions or transport problems.  It can also be used as an alternative if/when government restrictions instruct working from home. Telephone counselling is also available to people who do not feel comfortable using a computer. If you have any questions or require further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

  • Online, Email & Telephone Counselling - These sessions use online encrypted software such as Email, Instant Messaging and online video platforms for your sessions. You choose which online way suits you best. Your online security and confidentiality is paramount to me and due to this we only use encrypted platforms. If you'd like to book your initial free telephone consultation  please call or email me and we can arrange a day and time. In your initial call, you have the opportunity to meet me and decide if I am the right counsellor for you. After this, if you decide to proceed then we can arrange your next session. It is your choice how many sessions you would like and if you are unsure we can discuss this in your initial session.

I care very much about making therapy accessible to all. If you are unable to attend in person sessions due to disability I can offer you online or telephone counselling or can arrange home visits. Disability and chronic pain can be debilitating and isolating. If you’re unable to attend in person sessions due to disability or chronic pain but wish to access therapy please call me and we can explore appropriate suitable options for you.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
