I have worked with people who feel that they have had enough of this world, who feel that there is no option but to end their life, I have worked with people with traumatic childhood experiences, domestic abuse and esteem concerns during my time counselling and volunteering. I have experience of working with neurodiverse individuals and members of the LBGTQ+ community. I offer my services without judgement or pre-conceived ideals of sex, ability, race or beliefs.
Over the last 10 years, I have received a variety of training and qualifications to qualify me to be able to provide a safe sharing space. I have worked with people with esteem and confidence issues, family planning concerns, domestic abuse; including violence, financial control, manipulation and intimidation - over all genders.
I would consider myself to be a lived experience counsellor, I know what my trauma was like for me and I know what helped me...that doesn't mean I'm an expert but it does mean that I could understand some of the pain you feel.
Training, qualifications & experience
My counselling career began whilst volunteering for Samaritans, being available for people in crisis was incredibly humbling and made me realise that people need people to be able to open up without judgement. I went onto undergo several qualifications which would enable to become a qualified counsellor. I have volunteered with several local charities providing counselling services for people in Wakefield and Barnsley.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I am a qualified and regulated Therapeutic Counsellor and believe that everyone has the right to a happy and fulfilled life, no matter of wealth, health and history.
I entered the world of counselling after volunteering for the Samaritans for over four years. Being part of incredibly humbling conversations during my time as a Listener made me realise that people need more provision for mental health support and as simple as someone who will listen...really listen.
