About me
Hi and welcome to my page, my name is Claire Brierley and I am a MBACP registered DipMBACP Integrative Counsellor & Sleep Therapist. I am highly trained and offer a seamless approach to counselling. Using Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT strategies I can help you explore and unpick real life issues and traumatic events.
I have supported children, adults and families across Cheshire for 21 years and take pride in providing a comfortable space and a non-judgmental approach to my support services for adults and children.
I can help you explore feelings of mental and physical distress. These symptoms can manifest themselves in feelings of low self-esteem, mental health issues, stress, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, guilt, shame, anger, loss, isolation, substance misuse and emotional and physical abuse. I offer a professional, confidential and safe service of respectful, empathic counselling for clients to explore and understand their own insights and perspectives of experiences and issues, to enable them to resolve difficult feelings and subsequent unwanted feelings and behaviours. Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows you to talk about your problems in a confidential manner. I offer a warm, friendly relaxed environment to help you at this point in your life. When issues are causing you emotional pain/upset and you are struggling to resolve them counselling is the route to take. I provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings and help you find your own insights into understanding your problems.
Counselling can help avoid prescribed medication or can be used alongside medication. You may be offered counselling as a single session, as a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months, or as a longer course that lasts for several months or years. This will be discussed within the first session. An initial free consultation over the phone is available.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
