About me

Hello, I’m Claire

Let’s be honest coming to therapy can be really challenging, finding a therapist can often stop people from starting. I know I found this part hard when I looked for my own therapy.

I have nine years’ experience sitting with people therapeutically and many years’ experience volunteering and working with people. I feel this goes a long way in being able to connect and be with a client. So you know you’re in safe hands, I also have a degree in Psychotherapy and I’m currently training to be a Clinical Supervisor. I suppose my point is, I believe the work is relational. Connection is important, so I can support you in a space that will be quite vulnerable for you at times.

My philosophy is to honour the uniqueness of each client, I believe you are the expert on yourself, and you set the pace. I will help you explore different thoughts, offer appropriate interventions, help you look at patterns and created coping mechanisms.

Therapy is a space for you to talk about things with someone who is not part of your life. A space to process things and gain a different perspective. A space to be supported and to be seen. A space for you, to use how you need (I will help you figure this out). Basically, this space is a place for you to be your authentic self.

Therapy isn’t easy or a quick fix. It takes commitment, time, and pacing. Again, this is something I can help you with. Part of the commitment is our working together.

I am a Neurodivergent, Vegan, Kink and LGBTQ+ ally. You don’t have to be any of these things for us to work well together either.

I have a lovely private room in Nottingham city centre, but I also work remotely online or over the phone.

What Integrative Counselling can offer you

I offer a humanistic, Integrative approach. Predominantly this focuses on your uniqueness as an individual, your understanding of yourself and your situation, and your potential for personal growth.

I work with the integration of different therapeutic tools and approaches to fit the needs of you and your therapeutic journey.

With an understanding of human development, attachment theory and the unconscious process this helps me to modify therapy to fill in developmental gaps that effects each of us in different ways.

By combining different modalities and elements integrated therapy becomes more of a flexible, inclusive, and personal approach than traditional psychotherapy.

I will offer you a safe environment for you to test out your emotions and feelings without judgement. I will be honest, consistent, and have hold your autonomy and empowerment as an important part of the work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
