About me

I have been practicing as a counsellor for over 10years. I work within the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy model, but my approach is always tailored to your needs ,so I do use other models of counselling. For example the Person Centred approach.

I work privately, and also work in a counselling agency called Listening Post, where I volunteer as a counsellor, and an assessor. I have done this for over 10years. Working in both settings has allowed me to gain huge experience in the many issues and challenges people face,in their everyday lives.

I offer a warm, empathic and compassionate approach within a safe environment, which allows you the client, to explore and challenge your current difficulties at your own pace. It is by creating this safe place together, that you will be able to explore and gain a greater awareness of yourself.

You will be able to uncover what may trigger negative feelings and thoughts. Together, we can slowly unravel any challenges in your life and begin to understand how they may obstruct you from moving forward. We can rebuild your confidence and get you back on track.

Over the years I have gained particular experience in the following areas:

  • anger
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • domestic violence
  • loss
  • low self-esteem
  • menopause
  • sexual abuse
  • and stress

However, I am able to work with any issue.

I recognise that we all have a unique story to tell and even taking the first steps into a journey with a counsellor by looking at this directory takes courage. Be assured that confidentiality is taken with the utmost seriousness. I always work within the BACP ethical framework. This framework gives me and my clients an anchor throughout the counselling process.

We cannot love every minute of every day but finding ways and time to love some part of our day makes it seem worthwhile. Together I hope we can expand and connect those individual moments.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
