Christopher Stanfield, Dip HE, Registered MBACP
I am a fully qualified counsellor, experienced in working with a diverse range of issues. Whether you are struggling with day to day life or you've been affected by trauma, I am equipped to offer you a safe space where we can explore things further.
What should you expect?
Counselling and therapy can take on many different forms depending on those involved. Within our sessions I feel it's important to promote your autonomy and your right to be you.
The sessions can provide you with a space in which you can explore yourself and your possible issues or concerns. Together l hope we can create an environment that is calming, empathic and without judgement in order to build a strong and supportive relationship. It's this relationship that has been shown to be key in the counselling room to encourage positive change.
Being in a place where you don't feel understood or even struggle to understand yourself can potentially leave you feeling lost and alone. Our sessions will be about helping you to feel heard and accepted, whilst attempting to find the tools required for you to feel empowered enough to explore things further.
The sessions will be tailored to you, and any required adjustments can always be made.
How long will it take?
This is your journey and I am respectful of the difficulty involved with taking this next step. I am not here to take you anywhere you don't want to go, rather we will will work together in finding how best to approach sessions. All at your pace, and in a way that you feel comfortable with.
Some people feel more comfortable working over shorter periods of time, having around 6 - 8 sessions, whereas others appreciate more long term support, either can be worked with. You are an individual and it is my role to understand you from your perspective and respect your needs.
How do you get started?
If you would like to arrange an initial introductory session, or have an open discussion you are welcome to contact me by email, (please click here to send an email) or by phone on 07964169503.
Our first session will be about giving you the opportunity to meet myself and see how you feel about working together. It is also a time where you can discuss any wants or possible concerns you may have.
I hope the above information has been helpful for you. If there is any further information you require please don't hesitate to ask.
