About me

I am a highly qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, I work with adults, adolescents and children from the age of 5. My approach, though rooted in psychodynamic practice, can be adapted to suit your personal requirements. As a Psychodynamic Counsellor, I work alongside you to bring understanding to your current day anxieties, fears and belief systems. We will explore your unconscious internal belief structures and try to help you make links between these and your current-day feelings and any reoccurring patterns in your life. By helping you work through and understand your internal world, the expectation is, you will be better equipped and more able to face future difficulties and challenges, giving you the capacity to lead a fuller and more enriched life.

"A good therapist does not only show you the cracks in your story but shines a light right through them." This quote, from a leading psychoanalyst, illustrates just how important it is to choose the right person to build your therapeutic relationship with. To know your issues is one thing... to know where they emanate from is the very essence of personal healing!

Assessment Session

In this initial meeting, I will give you space in which to outline what brought you to therapy and take some basic family history. I will then give you an honest opinion as to how I feel therapy may, or may not, benefit you and I will discuss, in brief, a possible structure for that therapy going forward. There will also be some time near the end for you to ask me any questions.

Therapy Structure

Therapy would be delivered weekly or fortnightly, on the same day, in the same place and at the same time.

Sessions last for 50 minutes.

Everything discussed while in therapy is completely confidential.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
