About me

Hello, I'm Chris. Thanks for looking at my profile. I work within pluralistic modality that focuses on you as an individual and I often suggest a variety of different ways of working based on CBT (identifying and overcoming patterns), person-centred (being a non-judgemental and empathetic sounding board), and psychodynamic (giving space to reinterpret the past), to see if any of those chime with you.

My work is based on the condition that if you are involved in the "how" of counselling it is far more likely to work for you.

You might feel stuck, angry, upset, overwhelmed, or lost. Maybe you look back and wonder what could have been. You're not alone. I can offer you a space to speak freely, be heard, and deeply valued, while also including you in the counselling decisions.

Perhaps you want somebody to sit with you as you untangle the heaviness in the room, somebody to help you make sense of a past event or thoughts of the future, or strategies to assist in day-to-day living.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained in a pluralistic modality which means I try and include you in the counselling decisions, and ask if any particular approach seems better suited to you whether that is re-assessing the past, working in the present, or anxieties about the future.

I have been a counsellor at MIND the mental health charity for the past 2 years and before that worked as a volunteer KIT volunteer for the dementia support service also at MIND.

During that time and my 14 years as a secondary school I have worked affirmatively with neurodivergent and LBTQ+ individuals.

Moreover, I have helped people with depression, anxiety, and stress and their partners through counselling.
