About me

About me

Hello, finding the right therapist can feel a bit challenging and I would encourage always to try a few different ones before you decide. You are welcome to contact me to ask any questions that you may have by email or text is the best way to do this and from there we can arrange to speak on the phone at a time that suits you. My clients have described me as easy to talk to and relaxed, though I do offer a free assessment which is a two-way meeting to see how we get along, so you can dip your toe in the counselling water with no obligation.

I offer both face to face and video calling/phone to access therapy.

In the current climate of Corona Virus and the need to self isolate, I am pleased to offer Video Calling either by whats-app or face time. I do work with uni students Via this medium quite a lot already and it works really well.

Life can  be tough sometimes and we all need a little help to feel better and  it's completely normal to feel this way.  You don't have to struggle through how you are feeling alone. I'm a counsellor that helps people with anxiety and depression to be able to cope better with life and feel more comfortable and relaxed. I can help you break through your anxiety road blocks, not sure why your feeling low - we can explore this together and find a way through, what can often feel like a maze. Getting support when you need it is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself. I am humbled by my clients ability to be able to work toward good outcomes, I have worked with many people from all walks of life and a saying that I love is that " how deep is the mud, depends on who you ask!". No too people are alike just as there are no snowflakes that are alike . Integrative Counselling is bespoke to your needs and is a collaboration to find what you need to feel better.

I work in private practice  as an Integrative Therapist, with many years experience in coaching services in addition to this.

You can expect my counselling to be real, genuine and respectful of your situation, giving confidential non-judgemental therapy, with empathy for your situation...which means I can put myself in your shoes and understand how you are feeling. I Specialise in Depression, Anxiety and associated difficulties, such as domestic abuse or low self esteem...Please see the full list for more information.

What is Integrative Counselling

It is a group of counselling modes that gives the counsellor knowledge of theories and techniques, that help the client to feel calmer and more able to manage their life difficulties. We all need a little help sometimes and counselling can help to alleviate stress, lift depression and or give techniques to help with symptoms.  Integrative Therapists take the view that there is no single approach that can treat each client, in all situations. Each person needs to be considered as a whole and counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances. This means your therapy will be tailored to what you need, and more importantly, you will have autonomy, (we go where you want to), in your counselling.

I work to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy code of Ethics and Practice. For more information please go to the BACP website. I hold full indemnity and public liability insurance and have an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

I do offer concessions for people on low incomes ( with proof of benefits)  and also for students. These are available for daytime appointments only.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
