About me

I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 14 years of experience working within the field of Mental Health. I am happy to work with adolescents, adults, older adults as well as the offending population.  I have worked across a number of specialist roles which include, Forensic Mental Health, Forensic Learning Disabilities, HM Prison Service and a community Mental Health Service. In my current NHS post I provide psychological assessment, risk assessments, supervision, consultation and specialist psychological treatments. I have a wealth of experience working with individuals with complex presentations, for example, personality disorders, complex psychopathologies such as anxiety disorders, depression, schizophrenia, emotional difficulties, relationship/attachment difficulties, traumatic histories, abuse and learning disabilities. I have a particular interest in drug and alcohol issues and those individuals who present with a dual diagnosis. Specifically, I am interested how dual diagnosis relates to trauma and violence.

I use a number of evidence based psychological approaches within my work such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). I feel a thorough formulation of a person’s difficulties will inform the treatment plan and particular approach to use and I often draw on a number of psychological approaches to suit the client and work collaboratively to improve their well-being. I also offer CAT informed consultancy to staff teams and organisations.  Additionally, I am happy to offer supervision on a one to one basis as well as to teams and trainees.

I am also trained by the British Psychological Society as an expert witness and provide psychological assessment and expert witness services in criminal proceedings. My prior and current experience mean I am particularly interested in cases relating to mental health, personality disorder, risk assessments, and offending behaviours relating to violence, domestic violence, sexual offending and intellectual functioning. I am trained to provide both written and oral evidence to the courts across a range of conditions and different legal contexts and I am happy to receive instructions from solicitors on matters relating to individual or families and use a range of assessment approaches/techniques. Specialist groups I am happy to work with include: Adolescents, Adults, Older Adults and Family Matters.

I also provide medico-legal reports for solicitors and health insurance companies regarding psychological injury following traumatic events such as road traffic accidents, industrial accidents, violent assault and clinical negligence. As an expert witness, I can provide reports to include clinical interview, formal cognitive assessment and use of other psychometric measures to assess psychological functioning.
