Christine Kingsley-Mills - UKCP reg; MSc. Psychotherapy; MEd.Human Relations
About me
Hello. I am a professional Gestalt Psychotherapist and trainer registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy). Established since 1993, I work in private practice in Glen Parva, Leicester.
I work with individuals, couples and groups. Dealing with a full range of issues such as relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, abuse, trauma, illness, bereavement and loss, I like to work face-to-face and relationally with people as equals, and to encourage the development of self-esteem and self respect. My work is aimed at helping people see their own way, their own patterns and to explore their inner selves to discover what makes them a unique individual with unique responses to life developments, situations, events, crises, confusion or unhappiness. I use primarily Gestalt approaches, although other models of therapy, together with current research, are used as appropriate.
Attending to here-and-now experiences are central to the therapeutic process. I believe that increased awareness of our bodily responses, symptoms, illnesses, dreams and fantasies, thoughts, feelings and behaviour can lead to more conscious choices and to a release of creative energy. This process can empower us to fulfil more of our potential and lead more satisfying lives.
In Gestalt therapy the main concern is with your responses in the present .This might involve looking at your past and how it affects you here and now. The main aim is to aid understanding and awareness in a non-judgmental manner.
From this supportive relationship we are often able to move towards constructive ways of being and changing.
