Christine Hawkins, MA Counselling (CB), MBACP
1 Pen-y-Lan Road
Hello, I am a warm, experienced counsellor and CBT therapist with over twelve years' experience of working with individuals and with groups. I am also a clinical and consultative supervisor.
In my practice I will work with you to help you to understand the meanings and reasons behind your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Together, through tried and tested methods, I can help you to develop skills and techniques to develop new ways of thinking. This will free you from unhelpful behaviours and enable you to have a better quality of life. I am a CBT therapist with training in Transactional Analysis.
CBT, or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, is a talking therapy. It has been proven to help treat a wide range of emotional and physical health conditions in adults, young people and children. CBT looks at how we think about a situation and how this affects the way we act. In turn our actions can affect how we think and feel. The therapist and client work together in changing the client’s behaviours, or their thinking patterns, or both of these.
Because of the effectiveness of its treatments, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends CBT for a number of conditions (depression, anxiety and substance misuse amongst others).
Many difficult emotions occur as a result of a range of life's challenges and CBT can help you to explore these.
Counselling involves your counsellor listening, understanding and being empathic. You will find this a safe place in which to explore your situation, thoughts, emotions and behaviour in a confidential space with someone who is non-judgemental and supportive.
Please feel free to give me a call or email me to discuss and to see how we can work together.
